Homestead AI LLC, operating ecou ("we," "us," "our"), has a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any other sexualization of minors, whether the conduct occurs within ecou or is facilitated through it. We do not permit this conduct on our platform under any circumstances.
ecou is a private, invite-only family archive. Families create closed groups to preserve stories, photos, and family trees; there is no public content, no public profile discovery, and no messaging between strangers.
Content you upload is encrypted on your own device before it ever reaches our servers, using keys we do not hold; see our Privacy Policy for details. This means we cannot proactively scan or automatically detect the contents of what is uploaded. It does not reduce our obligations under this policy — it changes how a report gets handled, described below.
If you believe you have encountered CSAE-related content or behavior involving ecou, contact us immediately at safety@ecou.app. Please describe what you saw, including the account and family group involved if known, and share any screenshots or other material you're able to provide. You do not need an ecou or app store account to submit a report.
- We review every report using the information provided: your description, any material you share, and the account and activity metadata we retain (such as who shared content with whom, and when).
- If we determine an account is associated with apparent CSAM or other CSAE conduct, we suspend or terminate that account's access immediately and preserve relevant records as required by law.
- We report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's (NCMEC) CyberTipline, as required under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and cooperate with law enforcement.
- Because content is end-to-end encrypted, we may not be able to independently view the material itself. Our response in that case relies on the information in the report and, where applicable, valid legal process.
ecou is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle this.
This policy is maintained in accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 2256 and § 2258A, and Google Play's Child Safety Standards requirements.
We may update this policy from time to time in response to changing legal, technical, or business developments. When we do, we will post the updated version here and revise the "Updated" date at the top of this page.
